Bangkok is the world’s food capital, period. This is why coming up with this list is the hardest of all, given the number of amazing food outlets and restaurants in this bustling city. You can find incredible eats literally around every corner. From high-end gourmet restaurants to street food markets, Bangkok has everything. I could write an entire website about restaurants in Bangkok, so what you see here is my curated shortlist of places you shouldn’t miss, updated for spring 2026.

HIGH-END
Gaggan – Consistently rated #1 restaurant in Asia on the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants list. Experimental Indian, very creative & a lot of fun 😉
Bo.Lan – Probably my favorite restaurant in all Bangkok. Thai culinary experience at its very best. As Thai as it gets, while being refined to the top.
Khaan Thai Fine Dining – The owner worked as a chef in Sawaan before she became a restaurateur herself and now opened Khaan. Fantastic food grounded in Thai traditions and ingredients.
Mezzaluna (State Tower) – A very iconic restaurant on top of Lebua hotel, known from many movies
Sushi Masato – One of the best sushi places in the world outside of Japan
Baan Tepa Culinary Space – A creative and elegant space with very good food based on Thai ingredients. Good wine and nonalcoholic pairings.
Gaa – Some of the best Indian fine dining restaurants I’ve ever been. Very different from Gaggan in a way that this is more classic, refined and focused on real Indian cuisine from the regions. Incredibly smooth and friendly service.
Sorn – Probably one of the hardest-to-get tables in all of Bangkok. Rivals only Copenhagen’s Noma in difficulty. Fantastic southern Thai dishes composed of fish and seafood-based ingredients, as well as different levels of spicy. If you can get a table, don’t think twice.
UPPER MID-RANGE
Sri Trat – Elevated yet rustic cuisine from the eastern coast of Thailand. Very spicy, flavorful and full of good seafood. Book way ahead!
Sansumran at Tarnslip – A historic wooden house in the backstreets of Sukhumvit, where old royal family recipes are revived. Fantastic food quality, and elevated classic Thai fare.
Baan Chakrabongse Palace – A riverside retreat owned by a member of one of the noble families. You immediately notice that in the style, beauty, and dedication they put into this place. The best river views and an amazing classic Thai dining set menu based on royal cooking.
Oranuch Thai Dining – In the quiet backstreets of Sukhumvit, this classic wooden mansion houses one of the best casual Thai dining experiences in the city. Run by the owners of Baan Ying and other restaurants, this is kind of their flagship restaurant. Amazing authentic Thai fare.
Err – A more casual urban rustic Thai restaurant run by Bo and Dylan, the owners of the Bo.Lan fine dining restaurant. Unparalleled quality, perfect to go deeper into quality Thai cooking. Buy the cookbook!
Choen – Live-fire cooking in a small chef’s table setting. Fantastic experience if you like meat, fire and grilling. Rustic ambiance with a lot of finesse – the focus here is 100% the food and cooking technique. Very unique place.
Zuma Bangkok – A very modern version of Japanese Fusion at it’s best
Akira Back – Japanese-American restaurant on top of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis
MID-RANGE
Supanniga Eating Room – Several outlets throughout Bangkok, very nice and high quality Thai food
Savoey Seafood – Several outlets in shopping malls as well as in south Thong Lor. Focused on seafood and fish, standardized but always okay.
Baan Ying – This small chain is run by a local family with a long experience in hospitality. Each of their outlets serves honest, authentic Thai food and it is usually where I go when having to eat at a mall.
Charcoal Tandoor Fire Grill – An Indian barbecue restaurant in an elevated atmosphere. Come here for the finest Tandoori grilled dishes, but also fun cocktails and in general a great ambiance.
KhuaKling Pak Sod Thong Lor – Dedicated to fine southern Thai food, but in a casual and friendly setting. Fantastic authentic cooking, can get spicy if you let them.
